The delicious adventures of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory light up the stage in this fresh adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. The stage musical features familiar songs from the 1971 film in addition to a host of fun new songs making Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. a scrumdidilyumptious show guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth. Follow the mysterious Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his world-famous chocolate bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory and a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable, but the fifth is the kind-hearted Charlie Bucket. Each child takes the tour with an adult companion where they all must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences. What could possibly go wrong, or right? You’ll have to come to New Bern Civic Theatre to find out!
The show runs weekends July 15-24, 2022. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30pm and the Sunday matinees are at 2:00pm. Tickets range from $15.00-$16.00. NOTE: Friday, July 22 is a sensory friendly performance where sound and lighting will be subdued.
