HAPPY JULY AND WELCOME BACK! We are so excited that our gardens have reopened to the public this June. We have missed all of you terribly and been sad to only be able to share our beautiful blooms virtually. We’ve been keeping quite busy over the last months, during our public closure and social distancing, and working to switch out our gardens to summer annuals! We’ve got 5 new varieties of begonias, celosia, marigolds, pentas, gazanias and MORE to welcome you back! We may be past the tulip blooms of spring but most of our plants have been saving lots of blooming power for you and every garden is full of new flowers almost daily.

The Kellenberger Garden remains my favorite for its wow factor but the Latham summer blooms are coming along nicely and the pollinators are buzzing in the Hawks Allee. If you join us onsite, please remember to check out the Wilderness Garden- it’s full of shade, lovely breezes and unique plants- a great respite from the hot summer sun! Don’t forget to check out the gardens outside of the main gates at the Jones, Stanly and Commission Houses as well! They provide great examples of well adapted perennials and shrubs you can add to your home landscape.

For those of you who may not yet be ready to return, please stay tuned in to our social media and website, where we’re releasing garden blogs, pollinator information and behind the scenes tours to keep you in touch digitally!

We hope to see you soon in our gardens!

Happy Gardening,
Hadley Cheris, Tryon Palace Gardens and Greenhouse Manager
