Pet:  Pico De Gato
Owner:  Caroline Poynter

Pico is a two-year-old white domestic short hair cat, owned by his devoted fur Mama, Caroline.

This beautiful white cat has had some rough times, but he has been blessed with an owner that has given him compassion, kindness and care with his physical challenges.

Here is the story from Caroline:

“Pico was given to me last August by an older lady in Bridgeton. In early September he got out and roamed the streets in our neighborhood, not allowing us to capture him. I made a Pawboost post, and shared it all over Facebook and Nextdoor. We quickly stopped seeing him as often and figured someone may have picked him up, so I printed out flyers, and dropped them off at local businesses, shelters, anywhere I could. I just wanted my baby back home. On February 5th, I got a phone call from the Craven-Pamlico shelter saying they believed they had my cat and wanted me to come by and see. A good Samaritan found him in Bridgeton, badly injured in his abdominal area and his right leg was shattered. The shelter determined it was best if it were to be amputated, although I was out of the state at the time.  As soon as I returned to town on Feb 10th, I confirmed it was Pico. I was heartbroken to see him in that condition but I was more grateful to have him back, alive and healthy. The Craven-Pamlico shelter allowed me to adopt Pico through them which allowed them to microchip and amputate the limb, which would have otherwise been a financial struggle. He is now fully healed and is moving around wonderfully and is very happy and healthy. It has been a very long five months without him but I am beyond grateful to the man that found him and the whole staff of CPAS.

I show a lot of compassionate care to Pico. I am very nurturing and patient to him in learning how to adjust properly without his 4th leg.  Now that he is well, he enjoys going to the park, car rides, and pup cups.”
