Dr. Henrietta,
I love my kitten more than anything, but she is driving me nuts! I work from home, and she is so jealous of my laptop and my phone. She slams closed my computer while I’m writing, throws my phone on the floor and bites my toes and my fingers if I don’t pay attention to her. What do I do?
Signed,
Kitty Catastrophe
Dear Kitty Catastrophe,
Your kitten just wants your attention! Here are some ideas to keep her (and you) happier as you work:
• Take more breaks from your work. Set a timer on your phone to stand up and take a break once an hour for ten minutes.
• Give her a little treat. Maybe she is hungry!
• Go buy her some new toys. Maybe she is bored!
• Put a heated blanket on your lap. Maybe she is cold!
Kittens can be demanding, but if she feels like you aren’t ignoring her, she will be more content, and you will probably enjoy your work-from-home environment even more!
If that doesn’t work, maybe it’s time to get yet another kitten so they can entertain each other!
I hope that helps and remember: diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but the love of a cat is priceless!
Love,
Henrietta
