Families visiting Tryon Palace will meet a new friendly face through Kit, the feisty fox of Tryon Palace. Kit is the face of the Tryon Palace Foundation’s new KIT Club for Kids Interested in Tryon. The KIT Club is a way for children to get more involved during their visits to Tryon Palace through fun activities at each visit, special events especially for them, special mail from Kit, and a membership program that offers them rewards for visiting the Palace!
KIT Club was created to help engage children in lessons on history and the natural world by offering them a unique, educational, and entertaining experience with Kit. Kit was chosen as a mascot for this program specifically because a Kit is a baby fox, and fox are sometimes sighted in the Tryon Palace gardens. With membership cards, special recognition stickers, and invitation to special events, KIT Club is a fun way for children to grow their appreciation for the historic site that is important in New Bern and North Carolina’s history.
Kids can sign up for the KIT Club by visiting Tryon Palace or the North Carolina History Center and picking up a free brochure.
