If there’s anything the Russian writers could do, it was producing outlandish comedy with their pens. Among their best was the short story writer and playwright Anton Chekhov. Meanwhile, in America, it’s hard to outdo Neil Simon, creator of such hits as The Odd Couple and All American Girl, for bright humor on the stage.
What happens when you meld the two together? You get Neil Simon’s “The Good Doctor,” a brightly comical evening of Chekhov’s funniest tales produced with an all-American spin.
The show is directed by Shannon Wetherington and includes an experienced cast who bring the many characters who tell their stories over the course of a dozen vignettes.
