Travel to North Carolina and you will find it is as culturally diverse as it is biologically diverse. Since the Carolina Colony was established in the mid-1600s, oral, material, and customary traditions have been created and preserved, passed down from generation to generation. Traditions such as storytelling, singing, dancing, wood carving, quilt making, and fiddle playing, have all captured the hearts of many. Countless tradition-bearers in North Carolina have long engaged public audiences, whose piqued interest in cultures and the stories they tell pull them to fairs and cultural celebrations across the region. New Bern marks one of those such places that welcome visitors to learn about the people and traditions that make this state so beautiful. On Saturday, July 27, 2019, from 10 AM to 4 PM, Tryon Palace will host the third annual Multicultural Fair at the North Carolina History Center in downtown New Bern. The goal of the event is to celebrate the various traditions, and cultures represented in North Carolina and promote a sense of community engagement in New Bern. Representatives from numerous cultural groups will have informational booths at the event, and there will be several demonstrations, and performances. Children of all ages can also enjoy crafts and games throughout the day. We hope you will come and celebrate North Carolina with us.
